Onoway is located just 40 minutes North West of Edmonton at the junction of highway 43, also known as the Alaskan Highway, and highway 37. With over 800 residents and many diverse businesses, Onoway is equipped to offer it all, sights and services for everyone!
Onoway has an annual fair the first weekend of June called Heritage Days. This awesome family weekend starts off with a wonderful parade, the stars being the community participants of course, who build floats and dress up to strut their stuff promoting local businesses and organizations. The weekend is loaded with action packed carnival rides, great local music acts and lots of fun for everyone.
Businesses, such as computer services, grocery shopping, building supplies and gift stores are all within walking distance of each other. Be sure to pop into one of the excellent restaurants to refuel for more adventure. Speaking of refuelling, Onoway has gas stations with auto and tire repair services in town as well. The list of amenities in Onoway is vast, this town is booming! Hotels for guests, liquor stores for that special occasion, a Veterinary clinic to take care of the four legged family members and livestock, and post office for all the invites you'll be sending as you settle into your new home in this wonderful town!
For a change of pace, take a walk through the museum located in the old elementary school, but don't worry, the kids love the new elementary school building, there's also the sizable Jr. /Sr. High school for your teens. The kid in all of us will enjoy the hockey arena and the outdoor skating rink for some great winter activities, and Sandy Beach is located a few minutes from town, with a public beach, convenience store and gas station for your summer fun.
